ospreys make love too

Though I live in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, I still see Osprey's, a type of sea eagle, nesting near my home.  They love the protective cliffs of the New River Gorge and the easy catches of some of the Beaver Dan ponds that fill the highland valleys.  I guess it's like catching fish in a bucket to them.

I hike alot and as the season progresses, there will be more reports about eagle families, hikes and adventures.

This last weekend, We saw a newly mated pair at one of those highland puddles, mating, calling, flying in circles and bumping tails in mid air.  I wish we'd seen them settle down and do the do on the nest, but you know, I couldn't figure out which tree or cliff niche they were landing at.  Boy O BOy he'd sing out after he'd gotten his nut off...worse than a rooster!  Yes, mountain eagle watchign is mostly an auditory experience.  Watching these irds nesting at a marina is something else.
